Cumbria has a diverse economy ranging from sole traders through to global multinationals.  There are 22,700 registered enterprises operating from 27,000 sites plus thousands more smaller, non-registered businesses.  Between them they provide jobs for 249,000 employees and generate £12bn in Gross Value Added (GVA) for the economy.
